Each week on C.I.G.A.R.E, you will be treated to some of South Africa's top chefs preparing the most amazing meals for all sorts of occasions. Episode 5 takes us to the kitchen of ex-Mr South Africa, Zino Ventura, to learn how to make the breakfast of champions...one which takes no longer than 8 minutes (we timed him)...

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 - 5 egg whites (only use Organic or Free Range eggs)
  • 3 - 4 table spoons of jungle oats (or any raw oats)
  • As much Cinnamon as you like (Zino uses about a table spoon)
  • As much Xylitol as you like (again, Zino uses about a table spoon)

INSTRUCTIONS:

This is truly the easiest breakfast there is...besides of course pouring yourself a bowl of cereal. However, this is healthy, filling and truly easy to make.

Start by separating your eggs. Most men think this is a hard thing to do, but it's actually rather simple. Crack the shell of your egg on the side of a bowl, then holding the bottom, break off the top of the shell. The contents of the egg will now sit in the bottom half of the shell.

Try and pour the yolk of the egg from the one half of the shell to the other half, repeating this process until most of the egg white has separated and fallen into your bowl.

Follow this process with all your eggs and then pour the contents of the bowl into your frying pan.

TIP: Use spray & cook in your pan instead of oil. It is healthier and more cost effective.

TIP: Do not overcook your egg whites. You want them to be soft and fluffy, but not runny.

TIP: Cinnamon lowers and helps to control the blood sugar level throughout the day and Xylitol is a natural alternative to sugar, allowing you to eat more of it and not suffer the negative effects of sugar.

When your eggs are done cooking, sprinkle your raw oats, cinnamon and Xylitol over the top...and you're done.

Yes...it is actually that easy!

ENJOY!
